CompTIA sends proactive renewal reminder emails throughout your three-year CE renewal period, which will include the expiration date(s) of your certification(s). The purpose of the reminder emails is to encourage you to plan ahead to ensure you complete the CE renewal requirements prior to your expiration date.
Timing of Renewal Reminder Emails
- Day your certification was earned or renewed
- 2 years prior to your expiration date
- 1 year prior to your expiration date
- 180 days prior to your expiration date
- 90 days prior to your expiration date
- 30 days prior to your expiration date
- Day following your expiration (if not renewed)
Note: The renewal reminder emails are sent from noreplies@CompTIA.org so please check your spam, junk or promotions folders if you don't see them.
It is important that you keep your email address current on your certification account in order to receive renewal reminder emails and other important communication regarding your certification(s). If you don’t receive the renewal reminder emails for any reason (including an outdated email address, spam filters, etc.) you are still responsible for knowing your renewal period end date and completing the renewal requirements by that date.
If you do not meet the CE renewal requirements within your three-year renewal period, you’ll need to pass the current exam to regain certification. CompTIA does offer a 90-day grace period to pay any outstanding CE fees or upload CEUs, but it is not an extension to complete additional CE activities.
