Note: The locations of buttons/menus mentioned in this article are based on the default Moodle user interface. As Moodle is highly customizable, it’s possible that the instructions here may not reflect what you see if you have a custom theme or user interface. That said, customization almost always simply moves things around, rather than removing them completely; if you’re having trouble finding a given button or menu, reach out to your Moodle host or developer.

Logged in as an Admin, navigate to Site administration.

Click the Plugins tab, and select Manage tools in the Activity modules section.

Just below the Tool URL field, click ‘Alternatively, you can configure a tool manually.’

Open up the parameter documentation sent to you by your CompTIA Technical Specialist. In the following configuration screen, fill out the fields as follows:

Tool name: CertMaster <Product> for <Certification>

For example, ‘CertMaster Learn for A+ Core 1 (1101)’, or ‘CertMaster Practice for Network+ (008) Learner Modules’

Tool URL: (Copy and paste the Tool URL endpoint from your documentation)

LTI version: LTI 1.3

Public key type: Keyset URL

Public keyset: (Copy and paste the Public keyset endpoint from your documentation)

Initiate login URL: (Copy and paste the Initiate login URL endpoint from your documentation)

Redirection URI(s): (Copy and paste the Redirection URI(s) endpoint from your documentation)

Custom Parameters: Most integrations will not require these, but if your documentation lists them, fill them out appropriately.

Tool configuration usage: Select ‘Show in activity chooser and as preconfigured tool’ if you’d like to make course building more convenient, or ‘Show as preconfigured tool when adding an external tool’ will also work if you prefer. Do not select ‘Do not use…’

Default launch container: New window

Check the Supports Deep Linking (Content-Item Message) checkbox.

Content Selection URL: (Copy and paste the Content Selection URL endpoint from your documentation)

Under Services, select the following:

IMS LTI Assignment and Grade Services: User this service for grade sync and column management

IMS LTI Names and Role Provisioning:Do not use this service

Tool Settings: Do not use this service

Under Privacy, select the following:

Share launcher's name with tool: Always
-
Share launcher's email with tool: Always
-
Accept grades from the tool: As specified in Deep Linking definition or Delegate to teacher

The Miscellaneous section can be left blank unless required by your institution.

Click the Save changes button.

You’ll be taken back to the Manage tools screen. Under Tools at the bottom, find your new tool and click the four-line icon in the upper right of its card.

You’ll be shown a window called Tool configuration details. Copy these values, and paste them into an email to your CompTIA integration specialist.

After your CompTIA integration specialist receives your tool details, they will need to route them to the proper parties before your tool is fully configured. We ask up to 3 business days to complete this step, though it is often quicker. Your tool(s) will not function until this step is complete.

Step 9. Click the indicated four-line icon to be shown the tool details for that tool that need to be sent to your CompTIA integration specialist.
