Note: The locations of buttons/menus mentioned in this article are based on the default Moodle user interface. As Moodle is highly customizeable, it’s possible that the instructions here may not reflect what you see if you have a custom theme or user interface. That said, customization almost always simply moves things around, rather than removing them completely; if you’re having trouble finding a given button or menu, reach out to your Moodle host or developer.
Recommended configuration: We recommend creating three LTI tools when integrating CertMaster Practice: a Learner Dashboard, an Instructor Dashboard, and a Practice Test. To follow this recommendation, complete the following process once for each tool:

Logged in as an Admin, navigate to Site administration.

Click the Plugins tab, and select Manage tools in the Activity modules section.

Just below the Tool URL field, click ‘Alternatively, you can configure a tool manually.’

Open up the parameter documentation sent to you by your CompTIA Technical Specialist. In the following configuration screen, fill out the fields as follows:

Tool name: CertMaster <Product> for <Certification>

For example, ‘CertMaster Practice for Network+ (008) Learner Dashboard’

Tool URL: (Copy and paste the Tool URL endpoint from your documentation)

LTI version: LTI 1.0/1.1

Consumer key: (Copy and paste the Consumer key from your documentation)

Shared secret: (Copy and paste the Shared secret from your documentation)

Initiate login URL: (Copy and paste the Initiate login URL endpoint from your documentation)

Custom Parameters: (Copy and paste the Custom parameters from your documentation)

CertMaster Practice tools will have three sets. One each for: Learner Dashboard, Instructor Dashboard, and Practice Test. Go through steps 1-7 once for each tool you’d like to utilize.

Tool configuration usage: Select ‘Show in activity chooser and as preconfigured tool’ if you’d like to make course building more convenient, or ‘Show as preconfigured tool when adding an external tool’ will also work if you prefer. Do not select ‘Do not use…’

Default launch container: New window

Leave Supports Deep Linking (Content-Item Message) checkbox unchecked.

Content Selection URL: Leave empty

Under Services, select the following:

IMS LTI Assignment and Grade Services: User this service for grade sync and column management

IMS LTI Names and Role Provisioning: User this service to retrieve members' information as per privacy settings

Tool Settings: Use this service

Under Privacy, select the following:

Share launcher's name with tool: Always

Share launcher's email with tool: Always

Accept grades from the tool: <see below>

CertMaster Practice: Select ‘Never’ for Learner Dashboard or Instructor Dashboard tools. Select ‘Always’ for Practice Test tools or individual module tools.

Click Save changes.
Repeat for each of the three tools you wish to make, and you’re done! LTI 1.1 tools are ready to use immediately after configuration.
