Moodle - Linking to Course Resources (LEGACY LTI 1.1)

This guide will assist in creating Moodle assignments that will link directly to a LabSim course resource.

Steps

1. While logged into Moodle as an instructor and within the Moodle course (be sure to 'Turn editing on' from the gear cog (usually upper right corner of interface)):

2. Add an activity or resource | External Tool | Add button

3. The Adding a new External tool interface appears like this:

4. After selecting Show more… and selecting TestOut as the Preconfigured tool the Adding a new External tool interface appears like this: 

5. Populate the Adding a new External tool interface as follows:

   Activity Name:  This is at the discretion and choice of the instructor.  Often the title of the TestOut learning resource is copied and pasted from the TestOut product title course outline (available here by clicking on the name of the respective product title) into this field.

   Preconfigured tool: TestOut

   Launch Container: New window

   Custom parameters:

   labsim_course_id=<the TestOut product title ISBN, which is available here>

   labsim_section_id=<the outline number for the learning resource within the TestOut product title, which is available here by clicking on the name of the respective product title)>

6. Select Save….
