CertMaster Live VM Labs include gradable assessments in the form of comprehensive questions, graded activities, or graded activities with hints that offer immediate feedback and a graded, performance score. These features accurately evaluate a learner’s ability to effectively and efficiently navigate and complete lab tasks.
There are three types of Live VM Labs available:
- Live Labs: Assisted Labs offer a 15-20 minute fully guided instructional experience, enabling learners to complete job tasks within a real-world network environment. These labs feature step-by-step instructions, comprehensive questions, and occasionally graded activities to reinforce knowledge and provide performance feedback. Learners have the opportunity to adjust or correct their responses as they work through the activities.
- Applied Live Labs: These 20-30 minute labs feature task-oriented scenarios that evaluate learners' ability to apply prior knowledge to new situations without relying on step-by-step instructions. Applied Live Labs consist of multiple tasks and include a scored evaluation at the end of each activity. Hints with hidden instructions are available as a fallback option to reinforce learning. By requiring learners to approach tasks independently, these labs foster critical thinking and encourage problem-solving skills.
- Challenge Live Labs: These 30-minute labs assess learners' ability to accomplish job-oriented goals involving multiple tasks, tools, and techniques that build on concepts from previous labs. Learners are expected to independently demonstrate their functional aptitude to complete tasks. While Hints with instructional guidance and retries are available, their use incurs score penalties to emphasize the importance of critical thinking and lean into problem-solving.
