Applicable Products: CertMaster Practice
Note: The following requires that you have an LMS integration with CompTIA already configured in your Blackboard instance. If you are interested in setting this up, please contact your Sales representative, who can get you in touch with our integration team. For more info on the configuration process, see our other articles on configuring our products in Blackboard.
Creating CertMaster Practice Integration Links in Blackboard Ultra
-
Under the Course Content section, click the small '+' icon in the center, and then select Content Market.
-
At the bottom of the window that appears, you’ll find the Institution Tools section. Click the tiny + icon in the lower right of the Learner Dash tool for the desired certification to add it to your course. Repeat for the Practice Test tool.
-
Note: If you click anywhere other than the tiny + icon, it will launch the tool, which is usually not desired. Aim carefully!

Enabling Grading for the Practice Test the Links
-
For the Learner Dash link, alter Student Visibility or Release Condition settings as desired.
-
For the Practice Test link:
-
Click the three-dot menu to the right, and select Edit.
-
Select Visible to Students, and check the box for Create gradebook entry for this item.
-
Configure grading settings as desired. The grade returned is a percentage, but it will apply itself to whatever you’ve configured on the item. (i.e., if a student gets a 70%, but you’ve configured the item to be worth 10 points, the returned grade will show as a 7/10).
-
Note: The Practice Test activity is also available to the student in the Learner Dash; however, grades will only pass to the Blackboard gradebook if the student entered the platform from the Practice Test link. As a result, one possible configuration is to restrict visibility on the Learner Dash until after the student has received a grade on the Practice Test, allowing them to review and continue studying. This will limit student (and staff) confusion. (See screenshots for an example configuration.)

The Instructor Dash can be found by clicking Books and Tools on the left nav bar, and selecting it from the list that appears. Note that the tool will not function if the Instructor or Admin has the Student role in the Blackboard course.

Example Release Conditions to prevent students from accessing the Learner Dash until they’ve taken the Practice Test. Reversing this is also an option, if you want to allow students to be able to study individual modules and take the Practice Test in an ungraded capacity – in that case, you’d use a Date/Time release, rather than a Performance-based one.
