- a1eee0ce-15a0-49e4-9316-dc92fb9fd860
4. In the following screen:
- Most of the fields autopopulate. Please ensure the fields match the below screenshot.
- Set Tool Status to Approved
5. Confirm all settings under Institution Policies at the bottom of the configuration are enabled.
6. You'll need to return your tool's Deployment ID to CompTIA, but whether or not you use the Default Deployment ID in your configuration will depend on your organization's use of Blackboard:
- If your institution owns your Blackboard instance, copy the Default Deployment ID from the configuration (blue block in the screenshot under Step 4) into your support ticket email thread with CompTIA Technical Implementation and send it.
- If your institution shares your Blackboard instance with other institutions or schools (for example, a state school system), proceed with the final section of this article. You'll generate the correct Deployment ID there.
7. Click Submit.
Part 2: Edit the Placement
1. Return to your list of LTI Tool Providers and find CertMaster Practice LTI Adv. Mouse over it, click the dropdown arrow that appears, and select Manage Placements.
2. Mouse over the only placement in the list (CertMaster Practice LTI Adv), click the dropdown arrow, and select Edit.
3. Scroll to the bottom of this screen, and under Tool Provider Custom Parameters, paste the account key sent by your CompTIA Technical Implementation Manager in your support ticket thread. Click Submit.
If your organization owns your Blackboard instance, then once your CompTIA Technical Implementation Manager responds in the ticket saying the configuration is complete, your integration is ready to use!
If your organization shares Blackboard with other organizations or schools (such as a state school system), please continue through the next section.
Part 3: Configuring a Deployment in Shared Blackboard Instances
If your Blackboard is shared between multiple organizations or schools, you may need to set up a Deployment in order to restrict tool use to only your organization's part of Blackboard.
Please Note:
- DEPLOYMENTS ARE RARELY NEEDED, AND THIS PORTION OF THE INSTALLATION IS ONLY REQUIRED IF YOUR ORGANIZATION SHARES BLACKBOARD WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS. Please read Step 6 in the instructions above to see if you need to complete this portion of the installation.
- This will only function for Blackboard instances that are organized using Blackboard's "Institutional Hierarchy" nodes. If your Blackboard is shared and utilizes "Domains" instead, it will be impossible to set up a dedicated deployment/CertMaster campus for your institution. Check with your Blackboard Administrator to confirm.
- If multiple organizations in your Blackboard will be needing deployments, please bring this up with your CompTIA Technical Implementation Manager, as this will require some additional work to function.
- Return to the list of LTI Tool Providers.
- Mouse over the tool you created above (CertMaster LTI 1.3), click the small arrow to the right, and select Manage Deployments.
- Click Create Deployment in the upper left.
- Give the Deployment a name that includes your institution's name (such as CertMaster Practice LTI 1.3 - <Your Institution Name>)
- Leave Description and Deployment ID blank, and Deployment Tool Status as Approved.
- Under Institutional Hierarchy Nodes, click Find Node. Search for and select the Blackboard Institutional Hierarchy Node assigned to your institution. Click Submit.
- Back on the Deployment configuration screen, click Submit.
- Finally, copy the Deployment ID from your institution's row in the table that appears, reply in your support ticket thread with it, and click Submit. Once your CompTIA rep has entered the Deployment ID into CompTIA's system, your integration is ready to use.
