Configuring CertMaster Practice in D2L Brightspace (LTI 1.1)

Part 1: Create Tool Provider

1. Logged in as an Admin, click the gear icon next to your name in the upper right , and in the Organization Related section, select External Learning Tools.

2. Click the Manage Tool Providers (Legacy) tab at the top of the screen that appears.

3. Click the New Tool Provider button.

4. Fill out the dialogue that appears as follows:

   • Launch Point: kf1.amplifire.com

   • Version: 1.1

   • OAuth Signature Method: HMAC-SHA1

   • Secret: (Copy and paste Shared Secret from your documentation)

   • Tool consumer information: Check ‘Use custom tool consumer instead of default’

   • Key: Amplifire

   • Name/Description/Contact Email: (Leave blank)

   • Visibility: Check ‘Allow users to use this tool provider’

   • Security Settings: Check every box

   • Add each BrightSpace Org Unit that needs access to the tool by clicking the Add Org Units button

5. Click Save and Close.

Part 2: Create Links

1. Click the Manage Tool Links (Legacy) tab at the top.

2. Pull up your parameter documentation and scroll to CertMaster Practice Link Creation Settings. You’ll be creating three Links per certification – one each for Learning Dashboard, Instructor Dashboard, and Practice Test. Back in Brightspace, repeat the following for each Link needed.

   • Click the New Link button.

   • Fill out each field per below:

     • Title: (Copy the Name field from docs)

     • URL: https://kf1.amplifire.com/service-integration/lti?

     • Description may be left blank

     • Check the Allow users to view this link box

     • Check the Sign messages with key/secret with box, and then select Tool consumer key/secret

     • Key/Secret: These should be grayed out and unclickable

     • Custom Parameters:

       • Scroll to the bottom and click the gray Save button. (If you accidentally click Save and Close, just re-select the Link you were working on.)

       • Next to the +Add Custom Parameters link, enter the number of custom parameters for the link you’re configuring and then click +Add Custom Parameters.

         • 3 name/value pairs will be needed for the Learning Dashboard and Instructor Dashboard Links, and 4 pairs for the Practice Test Link.

       • Copy and paste each name/value pair from the docs for the Link you’re working on.

     • Security Settings: Select Use tool provider security settings

     • Add each BrightSpace Org Unit that needs access to the tool by clicking the Add Org Units button. Be sure to select This org and all of its descendants if you want tool access to be available to classes downstream of that unit.

   • Click Save and Close.

   • Repeat steps 2a through 2c for each Link needed.
