Register a Tool
Note: If you are required to install the integration within a test environment/instance of Brightspace before a production instance please convey this to us so we can prepare appropriate accommodations.
- As an Admin in Brightspace, click the Settings cog
- Manage Extensibility
- LTI Advantage tab - Note: If LTI Advantage is unavailable (not visible): As a Brightspace Admin navigate to Roles and Permissions for the Admin Role, then select External Learning Tools. You should see LTI Advantage permissions. Give the Admin Role all permissions, then Save the changes. If you need additional help with enabling LTI Advantage please reach out to your D2L Brightspace support.
- Click Register Tool
- Select Standard
- Add the following:
- Create a Name: CertMaster LTI Adv
- Description: CertMaster LTI Adv
- Domain: https://partner.testout.com
- Redirect URLs: https://partner.testout.com/openid/idtoken
- OpenID Connect Login URL: https://partner.testout.com/openid/authorize
- Leave Target Link URI blank
- Keyset URL: https://partner.testout.com/openid/keyset
- Click away from the keyset URL to enable the next step
- Select All Extensions
- Leave "Send Institution Role" selected
- Select + Add Substitution Parameters and add the following:
Name: course_start_date Value: $CourseSection.timeFrame.begin
Name: course_end_date Value: $CourseSection.timeFrame.end

Register the tool
- Take the Brightspace Registration Details and fill out the form registration link form provided to you by your CompTIA Representative. (Leave the form open for a later step.)
- Click on View Deployments
Deployments
- New Deployment
- Adding the following:
- In Tool dropdown, select the Registered Tool completed in the first phase of this install.
- Create a name, such as CertMaster LTI Adv
- Leave Description blank
- Under Extensions, check boxes the following boxes
- Assignment and Grade Services
- Deep Linking
- Names and Role Provisioning Services
- Under Security Settings, check the following boxes
- Org Unit information
- User Information
- Name
- First Name
- Middle Name
- Last Name
- User ID
- Username
- Org Defined ID
- Name
- Link Information
- Title
- Description
- Classlist including users not known to this deployment
- Within Configuration Settings check the box for "Grades created by LTI will be included in Final Grade".
- Click Add Org Units
- Search for and select the desired Org Units you want this tool to be available to
- If selecting a higher-level Org Unit in the hierarchy, be sure to check off "This Org and All Descendants" in the rightmost column of the dialogue.
- Click Add
- Click Create Deployment
- Copy the Deployment ID and fill out the first field on the form provided to you by your CompTIA Representative (saved from the step above), then click Send.
- In Brightspace, click View Links
- New Link
- Name the link something like CompTIA CertMaster LTI Advantage
