Creating and Managing Custom Exams in CertMaster
Custom exams allow instructors to create a wide range of assessments, such as pop quizzes, chapter tests, mid-terms, and finals. You can build exams in advance—students won’t be able to take them until you schedule them.
How to Create a Custom Exam

Click the Custom Exams tab.

To view exams created by another instructor (including shared end-of-chapter exams), click View, then select a different user under Created By. You can also filter by Product.

Click Add to begin creating a new exam.

Enter the Exam Name.

In the Post-exam Viewing Options for Detailed Answers dropdown, select your preferred feedback option.

Instructions for Students
-
Passing Score
-
Time Limit
-
Instructor Notes

Click Go to Questions & Labs.
Selecting Questions

In the Exam Type dropdown, select the type of exam you’re creating.

Click Select Questions.

In the Source dropdown, choose the product you'd like to pull questions from.

Use the Filters dropdown to narrow down the question types or difficulty levels.

Click on a Chapter or Section Topic to load questions.

Select individual questions by checking the box next to each.

Under Actions, you can:

Click Add all these items to include every question from the current topic.

Click Remove all these items to clear selected questions from that section only.

Repeat steps 12–14 for additional topics as needed.

When finished, click Done.
Reviewing and Finalizing the Exam

Click the eye icon to preview any question.

Click the trash can icon to remove a question from the exam.

To schedule the exam, click Schedule Exam. (You may also schedule it later.)

Click Done to finish.
Editing a Custom Exam

To make changes, click the exam name, apply your edits, and click Done to save.
Important Notes

Unlike in-course quizzes, custom exams are set to one attempt by default. You can change this setting during scheduling.

For LMS users: Custom exams can be linked directly to your LMS. Scheduling within CertMaster is not required unless you want to allow more than one attempt.
