Once your class is created, invite students to your class. The invitation you send will allow students to set up their own accounts, gain access to their course, and automatically enroll them in your class.
Please note this procedure is typically not used if you are integrated with your LMS.
- Navigate to Classes and click the Class title.
- Click Manage and select Invite Students to Class.
- Read What to Expect in This Process. If you want to omit this screen in the future, check Don't show these instructions in the future. Click Next.
Tip: Does your class use access keys or licenses with CompTIA products? Typically, K12 organizations purchase the course for students, so teachers provide students with licenses. Higher education students typically use access keys because they purchase the course for their class. Click What's the difference? for further detail. If you are unsure which option is used by your organization, contact your CompTIA representative.
- Select Licenses.
- Each student needs a license, so enter the number of students in the How many students do you want to invite? field. After the number is entered, you'll see how many licenses you are reserving out of the total available for your organization.
If the number of students entered is greater than the number of available licenses, a message will appear indicating that additional licenses are needed.
- Click Create Reservation.
- Select Email Them Myself. You will have the option to email the invitation or copy and share the class link.
- Copy the link and share it where students will have access to it.
Important: Each class has a different link. If you are teaching multiple classes, be sure to keep each link associated with the correct class.
If students do not use the licenses that were reserved for them within the invitation period, the unused licenses will return to your license pool. The default invitation period is seven days. You can edit the invitation after it has been created.
- Click Close or the X in the upper-right corner.
Once a student clicks the link, the student can create an account or log in to an existing account. After logging in, the student is automatically enrolled in your class and provided access to the respective course.
Tips
- Students should only create one account. If a student doesn't remember their login credentials, the student should NOT create a new account. Creating another account may also use an additional license.
- After students have created their accounts, they should log in using their existing account. If a student uses the class link again, the student should NOT create another account.
- If a student accidentally creates two accounts, you can use Return License to Pool for the duplicate student, unenroll the duplicate student from your class, and archive the duplicate student.
