Unlike most of CompTIA's certifications, the A+ certification requires passing two exams: A+ Core 1 and A+ Core 2. As a result, there are products for teaching only Core 1, only Core 2, or both together in a single experience. On top of that, due to curriculum requirements, our full range of CertMaster Learn/Labs/Perform products isn't offered across the whole selection. So what do you need to build with?
If you haven't yet, please read our article outlining what our Learn, Labs, and Perform products contain.
A note on the dangers of mixing and matching products
Please do not mix and match. Mixing and matching product types in a single LMS course can cause a range of technical issues, from student progress tracking and grade syncing, to license management, billing, and even basic integration functionality.
The products have been built in such a way that there is no situation where you need to mix and match different product types in a single LMS course. Any given LMS course should only link to one product among Learn, Labs, Perform, and TestOut Pro.
If you believe you need to mix and match products (for example, Learn and Labs, or TestOut Pro and Labs), it's likely you're looking for the Perform product instead, which combines those products natively.
So what do I choose?
I want some combination of Learn and Labs content.
Take a look at the following flowchart, and if it doesn't capture your situation, read on below.
I'm a TestOut customer looking for the nearest equivalent to TestOut PC Pro.
Select "Learn for A+ Core 1 and Core 2".
I'm only interested in the Virtual Machine Labs -- I'm creating my own primary learning content or sourcing it elsewhere.
Select "Labs for A+ Core 2". There is no Labs product for A+ Core 1, though if you want to use our hardware simulations, they are available in "Learn for A+ Core 1". Those simulations are not available separately.
Why do some Labs and Perform products seem to be missing from the list?
The Core 1 curriculum is primarily hardware-based. As a result, the standalone Core 1 line does not have a Labs or Perform product, as virtual operating systems aren't needed to teach that content. (Simulated hardware experiences are still available in Learn.)
For similar reasons, the combined "A+ Core 1 and Core 2" material does not have a CertMaster Labs product -- only Learn and Perform, which combines the material of Learn for A+ Core 1 with Perform for A+ Core 2.
