This article outlines the purchasing options and discounts available to academic customers.
It is important to identify who is making the purchase, as this determines your eligibility for specific pricing:
- Is the student purchasing for themselves?
- Or is the academic institution purchasing on behalf of students?
Understanding this distinction ensures you receive the best pricing available.
Academic Pricing Options
1. Student Purchases (SheerID)
If you are a student buying CompTIA products for yourself, you must verify your academic status using SheerID. Note: You will receive your best price when you verify your student status with SheerID. No additional discounts can be applied in addition to your verified SheerID discount.

To be eligible for student pricing:
You must be currently enrolled at one of the following:
- U.S. degree-granting Title IV University
- U.S. High School Junior or Senior (16 years of age or older)
- Canadian University
CompTIA uses SheerID, a third-party verification service, to confirm your active student status.
Regarding the required documentation, we need to see a school-issued document that shows the following:
· First name
· Last name
· School name
· A date within the current term
Examples of acceptable documents include, but are not limited to:
· Dated student ID cards
· Class schedules
· Transcripts
· Tuition receipts
· Registration receipts
· Official letter from school confirming active enrollment
For student issues with declines: To proceed, please have the student reach out to SheerID individually using their own email addresses by creating a new support ticket at https://support.sheerid.com/en-US/help-center/contact-form. This will allow them to guide them directly through the approval process and request any necessary documentation.
How to Get Your Student Discount
Step 1: Create or Log In to Your CompTIA Account
- Go to www.comptia.org.
- Click the ‘Login’ tab in the upper right corner and select My Shopping Account.
- Log in or create an account using your school email address.
- Enter the verification code sent to your email and complete your profile.
Step 2: Submit Your Student Verification
- After logging in, go to My Customer Profile.
- Select Validate Student ID.
- Complete the form with your details:
- Country
- School name
- First and last name
- Date of birth
- School email address
- Click Verify My Student Status.
Step 3: Get Confirmation and Unlock Discounts
- You’ll receive a confirmation on the website and via email.
- Once verified, your student status will unlock special discounts automatically in the CompTIA Store.

2. Net New Academic Institutional Customers (Ideal Pricing)
Academic institutions purchasing on behalf of students who have not purchased from CompTIA in 2024 are eligible for Ideal Pricing.

- Log in to the CompTIA Store to view your Ideal Pricing discount.
- You must be logged in to view your Ideal Price. When you are signed in, only this price will appear.
3. Existing Academic Institutional Customers (Loyalty Pricing)
Academic institutions that have purchased from CompTIA in 2024 and are purchasing on behalf of students qualify for Loyalty Pricing.
- Loyalty Pricing provides the best rates for returning B2B academic customers.
- Log in to the CompTIA Store to access your Loyalty Pricing discount.
- You must be logged in to view your Loyalty Price. When you are signed in, only this price will appear.
