In certain academic environments, institutions may authorize instructors or administrative employees to provide consent on behalf of minor learners when parents or guardians are unable or unwilling to do so.
Before consent can be granted:
- The institution must have a formal agreement with CompTIA.
- Designated instructors or administrative employees must be authorized by the institution.
- Authorized users must be configured in CompTIA Central by CompTIA operational staff.
- Institutions can initiate the alternative consent process by completing the Alternative Consent Request Form here.
First-Time Consent Process
1. Open the Consent Request Email
The instructor or administrative employee receives an email requesting consent for a student to access CompTIA Central.
Click Give Permission to continue or Decline to deny the request.
2. Review the Permission Request
Review the features and permissions being requested and click Continue.
3. Review the Terms of Use
Review the Privacy Terms and Terms of Use, then click Continue.
4. Verify the Student
- Click the student's name.
- Enter the student's last name.
- Click Save.

5. Complete Adult Verification
- Click Start Verification.
- Select one of the available verification methods.
- Follow the prompts to complete verification.
Verification methods include:
- Government-issued ID
- Driver's License
- Credit Card
- PayPal
- Stripe
- Partial Social Security Number
6. Complete the Consent Process
After completing adult verification:
- Complete any required verification prompts.
- Click Done.
- Return to the PRIVO platform.
- Click Continue to complete the consent process.
7. Confirm Consent Was Granted
Verify that the student appears with a green outline, indicating consent has been granted.
From the Account Summary page, you can also:
- Revoke Consent
- Delete Account
8. Grant Consent for Additional Students
After completing adult verification for the first time, you will typically not be required to verify your identity again.
Additional students that you've granted consent for will appear in your Account Summary.

If consent is revoked, the minor immediately loses access to CompTIA Central and related CompTIA services.
Request Data Deletion
Instructors and administrative employees may request deletion of learning data only.
