CompTIA offers a variety of options to renew your certification(s). You can choose the option that works best for you! In some cases, you can complete the renewal requirements with a single activity, or you can combine multiple Continuing Education (CE) activities to accumulate the required number of CEUs (Continuing Education Units).
Option 1: Renew with a Single Activity
You can renew your CompTIA certification(s) by completing just one of the following activities:
- Complete CompTIA CertMaster CE (Available for A+, Network+, and Security+ only. You must have passed a previous version of the exam.)
- Earn a higher-level CompTIA certification
- Earn a non-CompTIA IT industry certification
- Pass the latest release of the CompTIA exam
Option 2: Renew with Multiple Activities
If you prefer, you can combine multiple activities to accumulate the required CEUs. Here are some options:

Complete training and higher education activities:
Examples include training courses, webinars, conference sessions, or college courses. -
Participate in IT industry activities:
Examples include teaching/mentoring, creating instructional materials, or participating as a CompTIA Subject Matter Expert (SME). -
Publish content:
Write an article, white paper, blog post, or book. -
Gain work experience:
Use your on-the-job experience to earn CEUs. - Earn another CompTIA certification
- Earn a non-CompTIA IT industry certification
Important Note for Multiple Certifications
If you hold more than one CompTIA certification, you only need to meet the renewal requirements (including CE fees and renewal activities) for your highest-level certification. Once you renew your highest-level certification, your lower-level certifications will automatically be renewed.
