What’s Happening and When?
Effective immediately, we will begin the process of removing the text-to-speech capability powered by Speechify.
Why is it Happening?
This decision was made due to certain technology requirements, including the fact that Speechify will be terminating their API with the player feature and will not be replacing the player feature. This means we are unable to use the player feature in our platform.
What Can I Use as an Alternative?
We don’t take changes that affect accessibility and usability lightly and always seek to ensure high accessibility standards for our products to ensure you can learn in ways that best fit your needs.
For those who require text-to-speech functionality for accessibility purposes, we recommend utilizing screen reader technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, or Narrator (built-in) for Windows devices, VoiceOver (built-in) for Apple Devices, or browser plug-ins that provide similar functionality. These tools are designed to provide similar functionality to Speechify, and our platform is designed to support their general use.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to optimize our platform.
