How Students Purchase and Redeem Access Keys

Important for LMS Users (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, Moodle):
If your course is accessed through a Learning Management System (LMS), do not redeem or activate your access key directly through the CompTIA platform. Instead, access your course from your LMS and follow your instructor's directions. You will be prompted to enter your access key during the LMS course activation process.

What is SheerID?

CompTIA uses SheerID, a secure third-party verification service, to confirm your student status. SheerID verifies that you are currently enrolled at an eligible educational institution so that we can extend the student discount to you. Your information is used solely for this verification process.

What discount can students expect?

Once your status is verified through SheerID, you'll receive our best price available for students purchasing on their own. This discount level is the ideal academic discount we offer consistently across the academic segment.

You'll see your discounted pricing applied once your SheerID verification is complete and approved during the purchase process.

How to purchase with the SheerID student verification process

If you have a CompTIA account with us, you must log in first. If you do not have a CompTIA account with us, you must first create an account.

1. Click on Login within the navigation menu and choose My Shopping Account.
2. Log in using your CompTIA SSO credentials, or create an account.
3. Go to our Certifications shopping page.
4. Add desired products to your shopping cart.
5. Click View Cart when ready to checkout.
6. At checkout, click the "Student? See if you qualify for a discount." link.
7. A pop-up will appear, and you will be prompted to enter a Country, School, First Name, Last Name, DOB, and student email address. This verifies your student status through SheerID.

8. If validated, academic pricing will be applied to your cart.

   Note: You will receive your best price when you verify your student status with SheerID. No additional discounts can be applied in addition to your verified SheerID discount.

9. If not validated, no student discount will be applied.
10. Enter or confirm your contact and payment information.
11. Click Place Order.

Your product access keys and exam vouchers will be sent to the email address associated with your order. If you do not receive your fulfillment email, check your spam or junk folder before contacting Support.

When you activate your product access keys within the training platform, you will associate the training product with your academic institution.

You're just a few steps away from accessing your training product. Please have your access key(s) from the fulfillment email available before beginning.

Before You Redeem Your Access Key

Do you access your course through an LMS such as Canvas, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle?

• Yes → Launch your CompTIA course from your LMS and enter your access key when prompted.
• No → Redeem your access key through your CompTIA account at https://login.comptia.org.

Redeeming Your Access Key(s) - New Users

1. If you use an LMS such as Canvas, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle, go directly to that LMS. Click any CertMaster link and enter the access key when prompted. If you have questions, contact your instructor.
2. If you don't use an LMS, go to https://login.comptia.org.
3. Click Sign up now and follow the prompts to create an account.
4. Enter your information in each field.
   • Email addresses must be unique and require verification.
   • Passwords are case-sensitive.
   • If you are part of an institution or school, complete that section. Otherwise, skip it.
5. Click Finish to create your account.
6. Click + Add Course, enter your access key, and click Redeem.

Redeeming Your Access Key(s) - Returning Users

1. Go to https://login.comptia.org
2. Log in to your account.
3. In the My Courses section of the home page, click + Add Course.
4. Enter your access key and click Redeem.
