How Students Purchase and Redeem Access Keys

What is SheerID?

CompTIA uses SheerID, a secure third‑party verification service, to confirm your student status. SheerID verifies that you are currently enrolled at an eligible educational institution so that we can extend the student discount to you. Your information is used solely for this verification process.

What discount can students expect?

Once your status is verified through SheerID, you’ll receive our best price available for students purchasing on their own. This discount level is the ideal academic discount we offer consistently across the academic segment.

You’ll see your discounted pricing applied once your SheerID verification is complete and approved during the purchase process.

How to purchase with SheerID student verification process.

If you have a CompTIA account with us, you must log in first. If you do not have a CompTIA account with us, you must first create an account.

1. Click on Login within the navigation menu, choose 'My Shopping Account'.
2. Log in via your CompTIA SSO credentials, or create an account.
3. Go to our Certifications shopping page.
4. Add desired products to your shopping cart.
5. Click 'View Cart' when ready to checkout.
6. At Checkout, click on the link 'Student? See if you qualify for a discount.' link.
7. A pop-up will appear, and you will be prompted to enter a Country, School, First name, Last name, DOB, and student email address. This is to verify your student status through SheerID.
8. If validated, the academic pricing will be applied to your cart. Note: You will receive your best price when you verify your student status with SheerID. No additional discounts can be applied in addition to your verified SheerID discount. 
9. If not validated, there will be no price discounts applied.
10. Enter or confirm Contact and Payment information, update as needed.
11. Click 'Place order'
    • Your product(s) access keys and exam vouchers will be sent to the email address associated with your order. If you do not receive your fulfillment email, please check your spam or junk folder before contacting Support.
    • When you activate your product access keys within the training platform, you will associate this training product with your academic institution.

How to redeem your access key(s)

You’re just a few steps away from accessing your training product. Below, we’ve outlined the redemption process to help you get started. Please have your access key(s) from the fulfillment email accessible, as you will need this information in the steps below.

Redeeming your access key(s) - New users

1. If you use an LMS such as Canvas, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle, go directly to that LMS. Click any CertMaster link, and enter the access key in the prompt. If you have questions on redeeming your access key(s) in the LMS please reach out to your instructor.
2. If you don't use an LMS, go to login.comptia.org
3. Click the Sign up now button and follow the steps to create
   a new account.
4. For each field, enter your information.
   • Email address needs to be a unique email and will require verification.
   • Be aware that the password field is case-sensitive.
   • If you are part of an institution or school, set up your account, otherwise skip this step.
5. Click Finish to create your account.
6. To redeem your course, click + Add Course and enter your access key, click Redeem.

Redeeming your access key(s) - Returning users

1. Go to login.comptia.org
2. Login to your account.
3. In the My Courses section of the home page, click + Add Course.
4. Enter your access key and click Redeem.
