Overview
CompTIA is migrating all users to CompTIA Central single sign-on (SSO). This account uses the same username and password for:
CompTIA Central (login.comptia.org)
The CompTIA Store (https://www.comptia.org/en/)
CertMaster Platform (platform.comptia.org) once migrated
⚠️ Legacy CertMaster accounts are still in use for some students and instructors but will be retired. These accounts follow a different password reset process.
⚠️ LMS students (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L, etc.) should always use their LMS course links to access CertMaster. A CompTIA Central account is created in the background, but LMS students should not log in directly with it unless specifically instructed.
Step 1: Identify Your Situation
Are you an LMS student?
✅ Yes → Always access your CertMaster content through your LMS course links. You do not need to reset a password.
❌ No → Continue below.
Do you have a CompTIA Central account?
✅ Yes → Follow the CompTIA Central reset process (see Step 2).
❌ No (legacy CertMaster account) → Follow the legacy reset options (see Step 3).
Step 2: Resetting Your Password (CompTIA Central Users)
If you access CompTIA Central, the Store, or a migrated CertMaster account, use this process:
Go to login.comptia.org.
Select Reset your password.
Enter the email address linked to your account and click Send Code.
Check your email for a message from
donotreply@auth.comptia.orgwith the subject “CompTIA Account Email Verification.”Enter the verification code on the site and click Verify code.
Create a new password that meets the requirements.
Click Continue to complete the reset and sign in with your new password.
If you are already signed in and want to change your password:
Go to login.comptia.org and click your account icon in the top-right corner.
Select My login credentials.
Click Edit next to Password.
Enter your current password, then your new password, and save changes.
Step 3: Legacy CertMaster Accounts (Students & Teachers)
If your account has not yet been migrated to CompTIA Central, you have two options:
Option A: Reset your own password
Go to the CertMaster login page: platform.comptia.org.
Click Reset Password.
Enter the email address associated with your CertMaster account.
Check your email for a message with the subject line “CompTIA Account Reset your Password.”
Follow the instructions to create a new password.
Option B: Temporary password from an instructor (students only)
Instructors can generate a temporary password from the student’s profile in CertMaster.
The temporary password is valid for 12 hours.
Once the account is migrated, temporary passwords will no longer work, and you must use the CompTIA Central reset process in Step 2.
Step 4: Teacher Accounts
Teachers also log in with either:
CompTIA Central (most common) → Reset using Step 2.
Legacy CertMaster (if not yet migrated) → Reset using Step 3.
Important Notes
All new accounts are created through CompTIA Central.
CertMaster Platform standalone logins are being retired.
LMS students should not create separate CompTIA Central accounts; they must continue accessing through their LMS links.
