Students may need temporary access to their course material. Instructors can share a key with students to provide this access.
- First verify that the correct course is listed for your class because the temporary key corresponds directly to your class’s course.
- If you are using an LMS system, click a link within your LMS to access the platform resource, then click the Title icon to go to the home page.
- If you need to change the course, open the class and update the course as needed.
- From Classes, click the Class title to open the Class page. From the Manage dropdown, select Give Temporary Access.
- A key is listed for the respective course. Click the copy icon by the key.
- You can paste the key into a post or email it to the students.
- Tip: If you need to invite students to your class, include the temporary access key with your invitation to join the class.
- Underneath the key, the valid period is displayed.
- Click the X in the upper right to exit the screen. You can return to this page if you need to access the key again.
- After the student logs in, they will select the Activation Required link across from the class or click Add by My Courses.
- Enter the access key. Copy and paste is the best option.
- Click Activate.
- The product is now listed in My Courses.
- During the temporary period, students will be reminded once each day they access the product that the key they are using will expire.
- Students should purchase their access key prior to the free access period ending for uninterrupted usage. The purchased key can be entered by clicking the Manage button under My Courseware and selecting Add Courseware.
- The expiration period is automatically updated when the purchased key has been entered.
- As students begin to use the temporary key, you can view who has activated it and when. From Classes, click the Class title to open the Class page. From the Manage dropdown, select Give Temporary Access.
- Under Activations Used, a list of the students’ names and the date the course was activated will be displayed.
This key is only temporary. Please encourage students to purchase their access key prior to the expiration of their temporary key.
